Season 3, Episode 2 - Being in 'Flow'

Upon reflection, I can see that the early part of my life was spent wishing things were different. That I was in some way different. That my life circumstances would change. That things would get better. Easier. 

Perhaps this sounds familiar to you too.  

I've been talking about related subjects lately, so I thought it might be helpful to share some of my own experience of what I mean about being in flow/in alignment and trusting your intuition.

This short episode includes various examples of being in and out of 'alignment', and offers an affirmation for realigning yourself to a life of ease and grace.

Season 3, Bonus Episode - Soul Time Meditation

I had the pleasure of running some sessions for an online event called Wellness Together and this bonus episode includes one of the meditation exercises that I shared with the participants. (There is no accompanying article for this episode.)


Get comfortable with a pen and paper to hand, as I invite you to step into 'Soul Time' via your breath and body.

The prompts at the end of the meditation:

Season 3, Episode 1 - Developing Intuition

Contrary to what many may think, intuitive abilities are not particularly unique or special, and they are not reserved for certain people.


We are ALL inherently intuitive, although we may not always consciously recognise it.

Ep 15 - Dare to be Authentic?

If you've ever spent much time with babies and very young children, you'll be familiar with their flawless authenticity and self-expression. When they are happy, or they love something, it's really obvious - in their face, voice, and body language. Similarly, when they are unhappy you know it. There is rarely any doubt about how a one-year-old is feeling, regardless of where they are or who else is around! Yet the opposite is the case with most adults. Something makes us shift from being self-expressed kids to holding back as we mature. 

This short episode is a discussion of authenticity, and why it is that we feel compelled to hold back our authentic selves. You are invited to consider how this may be affecting your own life and wellbeing.

EP 13 - Releasing (from) Grievances

In this episode, I'm talking about the effect of our grievances and offer a few ways you can bring attention to your own grievance-addiction. A short exercise and worksheet are included to help you release your grievances. By releasing your grievances, you release yourself.

EP 10 - Suffering or Peace? You Choose!

On the IHUK Facebook page, I recently shared a video of Russell Brand talking about how the justification of pain is a way of recommitting to it. Brand said that each time you blame whatever happened to you as your justification for pain or suffering, it is the same as signing a new contract with it. But when you choose to let go of the suffering and can say "this happened to me and I want to move forward" you have the opportunity to re-imagine your world and your place in it.

In this episode, I'm discussing the issue of choice and offering some practical steps - plus additional resources - you can use to help let go of the things you've been 'recommitting' to and which are cutting you off from peace.

Ep 9 - A Summer of Self-Care

Self-care "is the practice of taking action to preserve or improve one's own health, or the practice of taking an active role in protecting one's own well-being and happiness, in particular during times of stress".

Considering the way the summer holidays are portrayed in popular culture, you'd never imagine this to be a stressful time, or that you might need strategies for preserving your health and well-being. As much as we might plan to have a wonderful summer, it doesn't always live up to expectations. While it may not be possible to avoid all of the potential stressors, it can be helpful to have a few strategies which will help you to stay in the right frame of mind and to cope more easily if things divert from what you'd planned.

In this episode you'll find a three-step exercise to identify your self-care needs, plus a breathing meditation you can use at any time you need a dose of calm.

Ep 8 - Muladhara: The Tribal Chakra

The energy in your body is carried through a network of connective tissue or 'fascia', in a way that is directed by your thoughts and feelings. There are seven main junctions in the body where the fascia joins together in thick horizontal bands forming a high-concentration of energy.

These points are known as 'chakras'. In her book Anatomy of the Spirit, Caroline Myss calls the first one the Tribal Chakra and explains that "archetypally the word tribal connotes a group identity, group force, group willpower, and group belief patterns." She says that all of these meanings make up the energy content of our first chakra. Located at the base of the spine, it's more commonly known as the Root or Base Chakra and the Sanskrit name is 'Muladhara' meaning 'root support'. In this episode, I'm discussing this energy centre within Myss' context, and offering some ways you can tap into your own energy to identify the 'tribal' factors that are influencing your life.

Ep 7 - Acceptance: Resistance & Surrender

Acceptance comes easily when things are going our way, but what about when they are not? How easy is it for you to accept something which isn't in line with your plan for how things should be? When you don't get the job, when your train is cancelled, when you lose someone or something you love - how easy is it to accept things then? And if you don't accept them, what is the result?Eckhart Tolle says that the cause of pain is some form of non-acceptance, "some form of unconscious resistance to what is". 

Despite our natural resistance to accept things we don't want or like, doing so can make a tremendous impact on our health, wellbeing and day-to-day experience. In this episode, Sarah talks about the different aspects of acceptance and offers simple steps you can practice in your daily life.

Ep 6 - Reality, Energy and Intention

In his best selling book 'Reality Unveiled' Ziad Mistry talks about the crossover between science and spirituality. This is something which has fascinated me for many years, but especially since I discovered energy healing - particularly distance healing. At first, it seemed too 'woo' to be true... yet people I knew and trusted were working with it. I wanted to understand how, and whether it was scientific and provable, or purely 'spiritual'.

Ep 5 - A Real Life Breakthrough

In the last four episodes, I've been talking about the way that we can use physical pains, issues or conditions to identify what needs to be healed within us. I've been using an imaginary example to explain various exercises you can try for yourself, but over the last week a real-life situation came up for me - it's quite simple but perfectly illustrates how the process works, and how you can use the things you identify in your body as an indication of aspects of your life that also need attention.

Ep 4 - Changes and Breakthroughs

How often have you made some sort of change in your life, hoping it will make you feel happier and more fulfilled, only to realise you’ve ended up with more of The Same - the same feelings, the same results. Over the last forty-something years I’ve realised that we all do it - it seems to be a default setting to think that changing external circumstances alone will be enough to change our internal feelings or experience, but it doesn't really work that way. 


In this episode, I look at the way breakthroughs can lead to real and lasting change and consider how you can apply the different elements of a breakthrough to create change in your own life.

Ep 3 - For Things to Heal, YOU Have to Heal

It's often quite easy to 'treat' the symptoms of physical or emotional discomfort, but none of this deals with the underlying issues. If you treat symptoms in isolation, without removing the cause, the problem will eventually return. This episode, which is a continuation of the exercises in Episode 2, offers a way to uncover the root cause of issues that you're ready to heal, to state how you'd like to feel and to consider how you can achieve that.

Ep 2 - Three Simple Ways to Start 'Tuning In'

In episode 1, I talked about 'using Reiki to 'tune in' to the body's subtle messages. However you don't have to be attuned Reiki to listen to your own body and the guidance it offers - everyone can do it. We are all naturally intuitive, but our social conditioning and education usually teach us to ignore our intuition, and so we get out of practice.

To help you tune in and learn to interpret what your body is saying, this episode includes three simple but effective exercises that you can start using immediately.

It's commonly known that Reiki is likely to help you relax, sleep better, have an increased sense of well-being, and so on.
